I love being as creative as possible in-camera. Getting the absolute best photos in-camera before I even get to the editing side. For this reason, I explored vintage and Lensbaby lenses from early on and have several that I absolutely love. I want to share that love with you and get you excited about trying out some lenses that are beyond just the standard lenses.  I am shooting on my full-frame camera – Canon 5D Mark III – in this series. Most of these lenses work fine with full-frame and crop-frame cameras.

I love experimenting with lenses. After you have been doing photography for a few years – at some point – you are likely to get into a creative rut or feel stuck… and getting some of the lenses that are a bit more unconventional is the perfect way to get excited again with your photography. Antique film lenses are especially nice because of the cost – they are usually really cheap – since most people selling them think they have no value.

In this video series I am going to show you some of my favorite unconventional lenses to use, and some of the photos you might expect to get with them. I hope you enjoy seeing some new choices that might be open to you for your photography and give some of these lenses a try!

*Wondering what my favorite lenses are after years of playing in all the lenses? The Velvet 56 – because of its versatility and its velvety feel it gives your photos. The Helios 44-2 – because of its wonderful swirly background features, and the Meyer Optik lens – because it is an inexpensive vintage lens that gives a wonderful velvety feel to the photo like the Lensbaby Velvets.
