Ascension – Fantasy Photo manipulation

For the creation of the background you can use almost any photo because we will blur it to the point that you will not be able to see much detail. The most advisable is to use landscape photos with some detail in the background.

The background will be quite dark so the details will be seen even less. The central part of the background should be clean, without many details so as not to steal the protagonism of the woman and the light effect we are going to create. Use filters or adjustment layers to darken your background and give it a cooler tone.

Once the background is created, add it to your model or main element. From this wood you will be able to make a better composition by having the main element in the scene because you will be able to place the other elements in tune and create a more visually attractive composition.

Create depth of field

In almost every manipulation I do, and this truly fascinating fantasy manipulation is no exception, I like to create depth of field by using blurred elements in the front plane of the image.

This time I used a few rocks and a few branches that I blurred using the Field Blur filter. Using Layer Styles or Adjustment Layers you can darken these elements to integrate them into your background. I used Inner Shadow to put a light on the top edges of the unfocused rocks.

To create the lighting effect of this photo manipulation I have used the Scree blending mode using a large and soft brush and a green color.

Illuminate the edges of the model’s body using layer styles. You can then convert these styles into layers. See the video for more details. I have also darkened the girl using a Curves Adjustment Layer.

For further emphasis I have created a triangle that I have illuminated using layer styles and blend modes.

Fill in the scene

Particles and other elements can help to fill the scene and make it more interesting. In my case I’ve put rocks and particles out of focus. I’ve also created a particle effect on the triangle to create the illusion that it’s broken into pieces.
