If you are a photography beginner, you might feel a bit confused with all the things you need to learn. But don’t worry, I am going to make things a bit easier for you.
One of the first things you need to understand is exposure. Exposure is the amount of light the sensor of your camera captures when you take a photo. When you master the exposure of your images your photography skills improve.
This is what the camera meter looks like, you can see it when you look through the viewfinder or when using LiveView.
You activate the exposure meter by half-pressing your shutter button. Once it is activated the camera will tell you the exposure value – EV of your scene.
Why should we care about the exposure of your image? Because you can control if it is too bright or too dark. Or maybe you want to achieve an artistic effect.
Knowing how to create the exposure you want will give you confidence in your photography and enable you to create the images you want to make.
You will need a camera for this class, any kind of camera that has an exposure meter. If you are not sure where to find it, your camera manual will have the details.
Each lesson builds on the next, in the end, you will be confidently exposing your images with ease. Feeling more comfortable and confident with your photography.
By the end of the course, you’ll know how to develop an “exposure strategy” that will allow you to effectively employ your exposure knowledge in any shooting situation.
