I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) who has spent over 20 years loving and creating abstract art. From the very beginning, I have been mesmerized by the texture and pattern within my paintings. In this class, I will share that love, help you solve the mystery of successful paintings and teach you how to recognize and work your own observations of the colors and patterns in your life into your into your story, your paintings in a fresh very easy way.

In this class you will learn how to

• • understand colors and how your color choices work with each other when side by side and mixed

• • see that not all colors work well with one another

• • recognize and use the patterns and marks in your life that please you

• • create your unique signature mark and calling card for your paintings

• • look at contrast to find visually appealing, lights, middle darks and darks within your painting

• • paint a colorful, pattern rich abstract painting that makes you happy painting in  the “Smoogie” way.

You can approach this class in two ways, you can practice the techniques being demonstrated by recreating the sample painting or preferably discover your painterly voice and create your story in abstract. This class is designed to help you feel joy in the creation of a very personal abstract painting that is rich in colors you love and visually stimulating contrast and patterns that you find pleasing in your everyday life.
