Hi, my name is Liat and I’ll be your instructor for the Photoshop course. I’ve always had an appreciation for art in all forms. I first started working in a marketing department coordinating print and design projects. I learned about the process of creating a new brand identity from start to finish, and the importance of iteration and developing and changing one idea to arrive at a finished project.

Abstract expressionism is an artistic style that emphasizes intuition, and going with the flow. These works were my response to a photography practice that felt stale and uninspiring. Up until then, I had used Photoshop to create graphic artwork and to edit photographs, but separately. I wanted more. My boredom with what I was doing and my curiosity about what would happen if I brought the two together inspired me to create this new personal style.

To progress in your Photoshop skills, it’s important to let yourself experiment. Don’t worry about knowing every tool perfectly, or even at all. Make mistakes. Explore menus. Get comfortable with a few tools and functions, whichever ones you feel best using, then start to explore and see how you can use them together in new ways, or introduce another tool or function for even more possibilities. And even when you feel comfortable, challenge yourself with something new.

Course Description

<Photoshop : A Starter In Graphic Design> is for those who are either brand-new to Photoshop or have had some exposure to it but need to understand it better.

This course is a general overview and introduction to the most important and common functions and tools in Photoshop such as Lasso and Marquee Tool, Magic Wand Tools, Layer masks and styles, from a visually creative design perspective. I recommend this course to people who want to use Photoshop to explore their personal design style and apply it to either personal projects or develop skills for professional projects.

To Students

Once you finish this course, you’ll be able to create a wide variety of graphic assets such as ads, banners, posters and digital artwork. There is no prerequisite, just curiosity and a desire to practice and improve. In fact, to get the most out of the course, I recommend practicing on your own outside of the projects in the course. This way, the skills stick better and you can start developing your own style to eventually build a portfolio.
