WHAT’S INCLUDED

Color toning is a powerful storytelling element in any photograph. It can create or change the mood of an image and thereby it is no surprise that learning how to effectively execute a vision is a huge part of every creator’s journey.

I’ve designed this course to make the journey as easy and effective as possible.

In this course we start from the beginning which is understanding the theory behind color toning.
I use color psychology and application examples to set up the foundation of WHY we would choose the colours we do before we later dive into HOW we use the Photoshop tools we have to create the colors we want.

Whether you are a beginner or familiar with color toning this course has been crafted to help you approach and execute
any colour vision that you have as a photographer.

1. COLOR THEORY & PSYCHOLOGY OF COLOR

In this video we will join photographer Bella Kotak as we dive into the world of color theory, psychology, and analyse how colors have been used in works of art in years past.

We will cover how color is perceived, the effects and emotions in can invoke in us, and how using color consciously can add another level of craft and storytelling to your work.

This video serves as an introduction to Bella’s thought process when it comes to color grading her work. While it’s good to know the technical aspects of color grading, it’s equally as important to know why certain choices are made and how they can impact both the creator and the viewer. This video is an insight into that process.

2. INTRO TO COLOR ADJUSTMENTS

In this video we will be focusing on color adjustments in Photoshop. This is an extremely powerful program that allows you really control and create any color palette you envision. This video is an introduction to Bella’s favourite color tools in Photoshop and it is probably the most technical of all the videos. Within it, we go into detail about what each adjustment does and the affects it had on an image.

Our goal is to introduce and invite you to learn more about the various color adjustments within the program so that when you are color toning your images you will have that knowledge and more importantly, that control to create any set of colors that you have in mind.

3. COLOR TONING START TO FINISH

Take a step inside the mind of Bella Kotak as she takes you on a journey through her color grading process.

In this video you’ll see first hand how Bella selects her colors, her thought process and the decisions made that impact the final results.

It’s recommended that you watch the theory and psychology of a color grading video first so that you can get the technical know-how and out of the way for a better understanding of how color grading works.
