Correct focus is critically important to photographers because it is one of the only things that we can’t repair in post-production.
Learning to focus correctly (manual and auto) is one of the most important skills in photography.
We are concentrating on focus for still images in this class.
Focus options can be confusing especially because different camera manufacturers name the options differently.
Some Auto focus options include:
Manual, AF with manual override, AF-A, AF-C, AF-S, Spot, Evaluative, One shot AF, AI servo, AI focus AF, Single point AF, Dynamic AF area mode,
3D focus tracking, Group AF area mode, AF Face detection, AF eye detection, Animal eye detection, Auto AF area mode, and more.
When deciding on our preferred focusing method, we have four main things to decide:
Manual focus or Auto focus
How many focus points to use
What auto focus mode to use
How to access our focus
In this class we will be explaining each of these four options as well as:
Focus and recompose
Diopter adjustment
Manual override of AF
Depth of Field
Focus peaking
Types of focus points
Live view and screen focus
What is Bokeh
Fine Focus adjustment
Back button focus
Focus stacking
Infrared focus
De-focusing
Reflection focusing
Focusing in darkness and more
