Do you have time to take a look at color trends to help drive your work forward for 2021? No? Then take this short 20 minute class and get a quick overview of the Colors of the year for 2021 as announced by Pantone in December 2020. Being in the know about specific trends help you to create lucrative work to propel your sales for 2021. I will show you how I find inspiration for the upcoming year’s work. In the class, we will create a mood-board and a few quick patterns in Illustrator. I will show you how to apply color in Illustrator and use the recolour tool to change all my yellow patterns to grey. Then we will go into Photoshop and I will show you how to colorize very quickly in there. I will show you some specific steps to creating geometric patterns in Illustrator, how to re-colour those patterns, how to apply the colors in Photoshop, and finally, how to import patterns from Illustrator. You will learn plenty of new skills along the way, like creating masks and layer blending modes.

The whole point of the class is to help you get a jump-start on designs for 2021. Check out all the links I have supplied to get an even more in-depth look into the rationale of the choices Pantone has made for this year with “Illuminating Yellow” and “Ultimate Gray”.

Every technique discussed in the class is backed up with examples and explanation. We will build on techniques you have learned in other classes, like the use of the pattern tool in Illustrator.  My hope is that after seeing all the examples and explanation, you can better grasp how to tackle trend specific lucrative art for 2021.
