Watercolor Blue & White Christmas Ornaments
Blue and white pottery has a long history across the globe. Originally created in China, the popular colored earthenware was adopted by cultures far and wide. In the 1600’s the Dutch made their version using hand painted patterns with lots of florals.
In this beginner level watercolor class, we’ll take a look at the six basic shapes used in much of the pottery and then create our own version of Blue and White Clay Christmas Ornaments. There is a downloadable template to trace 5 shapes or you can trace around cookie cutters, for a similar effect. Modify your sketch, further, by rounding the corners, or making scalloped edges. Then, we’ll start painting and creating a pattern using a combination of the 6 basic shapes and floral line art.
